From the other side of the fence…

From the other side of the fence…

I recently went through the process of selecting a buyer’s advocate to assist with the purchase of property. It provided many insights and if nothing else was a good opportunity to observe the ‘hiring a consultant’ process from the other side of the fence. One of the learning’s I took away was the marketing communication tool that both companies left with us.

One of the companies had gone to great expense to have a six-page A4 flyer printed on a gloss stock. From the front cover it looked good but the inside (three pages) had too much text and was extremely difficult to read.

The other left us with a pack which I described as a 'mixed bag'.  Some odviously outdated materials and a photocopied flyer.

The learning - in both cases less would have been more.  The first company would have benefited from fewer words and the second company didnt need to fill a brochure pack with outdated and photocopied materials.

Multiple web pages work best

Multiple web pages work best

I came across this blog entry, which I thought was a very practical example of why multiple web pages are preferable to a ‘one page says it all’.

Whilst multiple pages are more effort and perhaps expense, there is a great example here, especially if you are a company with multiple locations, of why you should follow this strategy. Click here to read more.
